Bill and Melinda Gates are ending their marriage after 27 years. Mr. and Mrs. Gates made a public statement that, “After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage. We no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in the next phase of our lives.” This statement was posted on twitter.
The Gates have three children together. Bill Gates is one of the riches people in the world. He is most known as the cofounder of Microsoft.
In 2008 Bill stepped down as CEO of Microsoft and a year ago he left the boards of Microsoft and Berkshire Hathaway.
Both Bill and Melinda are active in philanthropy. Their foundation, The Gates Foundation is one of the most influential philanthropic organizations of the world; together they are co-chair and trustees.
The Gates Foundation fights poverty disease and inequities. It has played a significant role in the global pandemic. Each year the Gates foundation gives away billions of dollars for global and public health and development.
After the divorce they both plan to continue their philanthropic work on the Gates Foundation.
